Little Cowgirl Goodnight

Sleepyhead cowgirl, it's bedtime for you
You've done all today a good cowgirl can do
Your stick horse rests safe in the corner corral
And your cowgirl hat's back on the bedpost for now, so

Goodnight, sleep tight, my sweet saddle pal
Drift off to dream little buffalo gal
To this dance by the light of the moon lullaby
Close your eyes, little cowgirl goodnight

The sandman's a cowboy, his pony astride
Lay your head on my shoulder until he arrives
While the prairie dust settles where coyotes roam
I'll cherish this rockabye moment alone with you

Goodnight, sleep tight, my sweet saddle pal
Drift off to dream little buffalo gal
To this dance by the light of the moon lullaby
Close your eyes, little cowgirl goodnight

It's comin', that tradin' of boots for high heels
Our days in the West, they're numbered, I feel it
You're growin' up fast, not a thing I can do
But make every minute count, until each day is through

Goodnight, sleep tight, my sweet saddle pal
Drift off to dream little buffalo gal
To this dance by the light of the moon lullaby
Close your eyes, little cowgirl goodnight

Be happy, be hopeful, find blue skies, my darlin'
As you ride down that long trail ahead
And I'll pray to the heavens that someday you'll know
How it feels to put your own little cowgirl to bed
And sing...

Goodnight, sleep tight, my sweet saddle pal
Drift off to dream little buffalo gal
to this dance by the light of the moon lullaby
Close your eyes, little cowgirl goodnight...
