At The End of a Hunting Year

An End of a Hunting Year

At the end of a hunting year
When the weather changes from warm to cold
And the hunter’s moon sets lower in the mid-night sky
Stories are told some good some sad

Another year has gone; three camps dwindle to two camps,
One moves on to warmer weather, to make new memories,
They leave behind their hunting family,
The memories of hunting with their dad and friends;

At the end of a hunting year
When the weather turns from warm to cold
And the hunter’s moon sets lower in the mid-night sky
Stories are told some good some sad

Poems are written of our hunting years like:
Clayton’s Camp, SixXSix, There’s something,
Camp Dreams,
Misty Morning and a Hunter Favorite

At the end of a hunting year
When the weather turns from warm to cold
And the hunter’s moon sets lower in the sky
Stories are told some good some sad

Friends and family from town come to visit.
Some in AHHH of this old outfit
Poker games are played, Bonfires are built
S’mores are cooked.
Big game: deer and Elk
Swing from the meat pole is a sign of the
Hunt was good
At the end of a hunting year
When the weather turns from warm to cold
And the hunter’s moon sets lower in the mid-night sky
Stories are told some good some sad

There will always be a time
Clayton mingles through camp
You can feel his presents
Open the door pulls up a chair
Stoke the fire, old boy; pull the blankets up,
Standing over us while a wedding takes place
He’s got his dog, his view and a dream catcher
He is surely missed but never forgotten

At the end of a hunting year
When the weather turns from warm to cold
And the hunter’s moon sets lower
In the Mid-night Skies
